1 november 2019, afternoon. Upon invitation from the Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, the Rector of the University of Rome "La Sapienza" Prof. Eugenio Gaudio, the Vice-Rector Prof. Bruno Botta, the Special Delegate for Chinese Affairs Prof. Federico Masini, the Dean of Faculty of Law Prof. Oliviero Diliberto, Prof. Raffaella Messinetti, Associate Professor Domenico Dursi, Dr. Arnaud Campi and Prof. Maria Virginia Sanna (University of Cagliari) took part in the reconfirmation ceremony in the role of "Professor Wenlan", which was also attended by eight students representing the University "La Sapienza". The important ceremony was also attended by the ZUEL Deputy Rector Prof. Yao Li, the Director of the Department of Personnel Liu Gang, the President of the School of International Education Prof. Huang Juan, the Director of the Department for International Relations Fang Lei, from the Vice-President of the International School of Education Zheng Ying, from the Dean of the Italian-Chinese Institute Prof. Xu Diyu, from the Executive Director of the Institute Ass. Prof. Li Jun.
The ceremony was held at the Italian-Chinese Institute at the Wenhuan Palace. The Dean of the Faculty of Law at the ZUEL and Chinese Dean of the Italian-Chinese Institute Prof. Xu Diyu expressed his deep gratitude to the guests who have come from so far and the warmest congratulations to Prof. Diliberto for his reappointment in the role of Professor Wenlan. With the mutual presentation of the guest executives, Prof. Xu Diyu formally gave the start to the ceremony. Among warm applauses, the Director Liu Gang signed a contract with Prof. Diliberto to renew his academic position, while the Deputy Director Yao Li presented a formal reconfirmation letter.
Later, Prof. Yao Li gave a speech for the ceremony. She highlighted how in 2016 the ZUEL appointed Prof. Diliberto for the first time as Professor Wenlan. In the short space of three years, Prof. Diliberto has brought to the ZUEL a huge amount of academic resources and exchange projects, he has worked incessantly for the cooperation between the two universities and the exchanges between Italian and Chinese legal science, thanks to this, made enormous progress. Since 2017, the two universities have established the Italian-Chinese Center for Juridical Studies at the "Sapienza" of Rome and jointly founded a Chinese law library, then founded the Sino-Italian Institute. All these results would not have been possible without the sincere commitment and energetic activity of Prof. Diliberto. The construction of the "double excellence" for the juridical studies in the ZUEL is due, in a decisive way, to the work of very high profile figures and Prof. Diliberto is an integral part of the scientific history of the ZUEL, where the formation of talents, the heritage of culture scientific and the promotion of exchanges and international cooperation are all aspects of enormous importance. Looking to the future, ZUEL believes that Prof. Diliberto will still contribute much, with his wisdom and dedication, to the development of the ZUEL and will provide even more valuable opinions and suggestions for ZUEL's teaching and research. Afterwards, Prof. Diliberto expressed his own testimony. He recalled how today was a special occasion for many of those present and guaranteed his maximum commitment to working with ZUEL. Prof. Diliberto highlighted how in the three years of his work as Professor Wenlan the cooperation between the two universities has made significant progress, mutual, common and fruitful. The two universities have organized six major academic conferences and a considerable number of exchange programs for teachers and students; they founded the Italian-Chinese Center for Juridical Studies, the Chinese Law Library and the Sino-Italian Institute, laying solid foundations for future development. The confirmation in the role of Professor Wenlan is both an opportunity and a challenge. Furthermore, Prof. Diliberto thanked all those who contributed to the Sino-Italian cooperation but could not attend the ceremony.
The ceremony was therefore succesfully ended while the attendants took part in a group photo in the balcony of the building.
